Just received my DVR (Digital Voice Recorder) and I am highly impressed. The playback sound quality is amazing, I have Beats by Dre (Wireless) and when I play the recording back it is perfect... I highly recommend this device.

I bought this Sony ICD-PX240 4GB recorder after buying the Tascam DR-05 for solo audio recordings and I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality this Sony recorder has versus the higher priced Tascam. If you connect a solid quality mic on this device I don't think you can tell the difference from other higher priced audio recording devices. The only bad quality of this device is the hard to decipher menus when you're first learning this machine as opposed to other more user friendly menu screens. Don't throw away your manual because you'll probably have to go back and refer to it every once in awhile if you have a time gap in usage since without it you might not remember what do all the menu abbreviations stand for.

This is my second Sony digital recorder; the first lasted a decade and only recently began to show signs of tiring. I use my recorder every day and couldn't stay organized without one. This is the latest generation of the product and works very well. It's easy to use and the operation is intuitive, so you probably won't even need to read the instructions. I love the fact that I can now select from among the 5 file folders by simply using one button - no longer do I need to go into the menu. This allows me to easily make notes that are organized into categories - a real time saver. The screen is painless to read and recording playback/erasing is uncomplicated. Highly recommended.

Nice compact size. This device has good playback sound and records well in a large room. It was very easy to use right out of the box. I have had it for about a month and use it to record meetings. So far the battery life has been exceptional.

This is the most economical and easy to use voice recorder out there. I purchased these all the time for my young students. I use them to record stories that the students can read back on their own. If a five, six, or seven year old can learn how to use this machine, it must be very user-friendly. The only aspect that could be confusing is that there are four or five folder. But if you stick to the one folder at a time, recordings are simple to make and find for playback.

Excellent voice recorder works awesome to record EVP’s or daily memo. We use it a lot to record our sessions of the paranormal. Lee Of Southern Paranormal

All I needed was a simple, easy to use Voice Recorder with a built-in Speaker. The Sony ICD-PX240 is exactly that, easy to use and good sound level and quality on playback with the built-in speaker. I don't know if it can transfer files to a computer and honestly I don't care, never going to need to do that. It is a good size that it will not get lost, decent display that is clear and readable, good size buttons making it easy to use. Easy to record, just hold down the power button, wait until it is ready, hit record, then hit stop, then hit playback. If you need a simple, easy to use voice recorder then I highly recommend the ICD-PX240.

Very happy with this recorder. What I like most is the separate "folder" button. On my older sony recorders, I had to go through the menu process to be able to change folders. This makes it easy to categorize messages by various topics. Also, this recorder has 5 folders, as opposed to 4 on my previous recorders. One (minor) thing I'm not thrilled with is having to slide down the "power" button and wait 4 or 5 seconds (while "access" flashes) for the recorder to be ready to go. This is necessary if you haven't used the recorder in the last 10 min. Sound quality is great! I leave mine set on the best (SHQ) mode, and am very happy with that. My batteries lasted for nearly a month, and that was with a lot of use. After installing new batts, I didn't have to totally reset the date, just the time. On older recorders I had to totally reset the date when installing new batts. I would advise people to write down the steps in the menu to do that (reset the time with new batts) rather than have to look it up.

I have only used it several times but it's been good. It took me a bit to see that the same hand movement/direction turned the unit on and off (rather than in an opposite direction). Also if you erase all the recordings, you have to reset the date each time (it makes you) - but I leaving one un-erased recording avoids that. With that in mind, it's quick to use and I'm glad I purchased it. It does require 2 AAA batteries (which come with it) but I don't plan on using it for prolonged usage so that's good for me. I don't have to figure out how to recharge it as with a different set up. Being electronic there's no cassettes to mess with. The sound is good on playback - and it picks up the radio when you're in another room speaking into the recorder--this is to be construed as a good point for I was testing it to see how strong the microphone was at a distance. I would recommend it. Just leave one message un-erased for ease and operation.

I used this Digital Voice Recorder for ghost hunting actually! I haven’t picked up any paranormal activity yet, but I have used the Device. The recorder picks up great audio when I tested it out by going in the other room and whispered from about 20 feet away and the recorder still picked it up even though I was whispering softly. I bet the range can be even further away then 20 feet! I recommend this device for anyone, and the price is the best!
